In the small town Druja at the north of Belarus four families raise cows in their household. During the season cows graze on the big island in the middle of the Dzvina. One riverside belongs to Belarus, the others is already in the territory of Latvia and the European Union. The boundary between the states is on the right bed of the Dzvina. Twice a day the Druya’s habitants raft boat across the river to milking cows there. This intimate milk production process lasts there for several centuries.
